Advisory Boards and TAKK – Case Well-being (#76/100)

Managers of TAKK in the meeting

The year is getting closer to the end and we have not had the chance to touch even half of the partner types we play with! Let’s tackle one of them today. Advisory board (neuvottelukunta) is the theme of this blog.

Advisory boards in general are bodies that give – as the name goes – advice to the organisations in question. They are by character informal, flexible and therefore influential, yet less authoritative and no way decisive. Sound too good to be true, but that’s what they are. Wise thoughts, concerns and opinions over a one big table together. The advisory boards are very important to convey messages and to plan for the future. Continue reading

How did it go? Teacher-student in Tampere Adult Education Centre (#49/100)

by Elina Reunanen, Teacher-student in TAKK

First you learn –

Last autumn, when I started my vocational teacher studies in Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), little did I know what as waiting for me! Fall semester went by doing homework, going to school twice a month and working at the same time. But this spring started the training, long waited but also scaring teacher training! Continue reading

A Small Story about Big Dreams (#43/100)

by Katja Vaulio

How I ended up to work at Expo in Kazakhstan.

Lovely Katja living a dream!

One day I remembered something weird from my childhood. When I was a little girl, I had only one dream: to travel. I dreamed about countries far away, about exciting adventures, different cultures. I dreamed that I could speak exotic languages and that I was brave enough to leave and experience everything that world has to offer. That was actually quite a weird dream, because my family didn´t travel almost at all. Neither did my friends or relatives. But my mother, she had two close friends, who went around the world and sent us postcards from exciting places. And so my dream woke up.

More than twenty years later I am here, soon going to Kazakhstan this time. In the end of year 2016, when I came back from Asia after spending there two months on holiday, I was almost desperate. My oldest dream about India had finally come true. And now – what would I do now? I had no dreams, only long, black winter waiting in front of me. Continue reading

Figuring Out the Work in the Warehouse of TAKK Construction (#33/100)

Present when needed, Ilkka D

Ilkka Dahlstedt (right) with student Pasi Järvinen in the Warehouse

The 118 qualifications TAKK has rights to organise training for, make a very big warehouse for the learning and study material. All the sectors have different gear: warehouses of the different teams in metal, wood, cleaning, painting, guarding or car repairing take a new pile of things, sometimes very big things. Where are they stored? And who watches over the equipment? TAKK has a miracle man, a smiley man, Mr Ilkka Dahlstedt, to take care of the construction sector warehousing. Let’s hear our Ilkka’s figures. Continue reading

TAKKCareerBooster in Brussels (#9/100)

TAKKCareerBooster

Boost your career in Europe

”Submit Online” with a long secretive term ”Form Hash Code” looks so lovely to many international activities coordinators this week in Vocational Education and Training (greetings to you all!). This is our secret language meaning: your work of many months has been paid off by sending IN an application in the Erasmus+ Programme. More uncoding: almost a hundred vocational secondary institutions in Finland have made their plans for international mobility periods in Europe for the next one or two years to come and have sent a Key Action 1 (KA1) Learning Mobility of Individuals application to the Brussels database. Now, all we can do, is to wait until late May to hear the result. How exciting. Continue reading

Do You Want to Have a Finnish Vocational Qualification? (#8/100)

Let's start planning!

Let’s build a programme together!

Enough of talk. Enough of visions and dreams, now we turn the competece-based qualifications into programme offers for education customers outside of Europe. Yes, The Finnish National Board of Education (FNBE) has granted TAKK a permit for qualification-based international education service business in December 2016. Therefore, education and business partners outside of Europe: your staff members or your students CAN do a partial or an entire qualification with us. Continue reading

Renovating TAKK’s Nirva – Renewing Education (#4/100)

Thinking outside the box, or building out of the box? In the middle of the Finnish VET reform, it is very comforting and refreshing to think about the walls and the rooms and the set-up of the learning and teaching premises. The “classroom” has come far from the times of the early 1900’s and somehow got back to where it belongs: the workplace. Mind you, I am not saying, we take the class to the workplace, but we rebuild the workplace to TAKK premises. There is an essential difference there. Continue reading
