Life without Refrigeration? (#26/100)

by Jukka Hämäläinen, TAKK

It takes professional skills to be a Refrigeration Fitter. With the bare licence from the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) one does not operate in the sector. In TAKK, we emphasize the acquisition of excellent vocational competence. Refrigeration sector is not just about installing the heat pumps, but there is work with the indoor ice rinks and the commercial refrigerators, with the medicine storaging in hospitals and air-conditioning coolers.

Inspected for operation

Inspected and in order!

What if the refrigeration technology would not exist?

We could not get any fresh fruits from overseas, the meat and the dairy products would not remain fresh. Certain medications could not exist, because they demand refrigeration to be preserved. There would not be any Blood Service, nor infertility treatments…. Neither would there be cool rooms where to sleep tight. Nor the world’s best 3 Kaverin Jäätelö (Three Mates’ Ice cream).

Can you imagine?
